WE ADORE AND CONFESS

*Hymn # 123                            Jesus Christ Is Risen Today                                      Easter Hymn

*Call to Confession:

       It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to put confidence in mortals.

       It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

*Responsive Prayer for Easter

O Christ, in your resurrection, the heavens and the earth rejoice. Alleluia!

By your resurrection you broke open the gates of hell, and destroyed sin and death.

      Keep us victorious over sin.

By your resurrection you raised the dead, and brought us from death to life.

      Guide us in the way of eternal life.

By your resurrection you confounded your guards and executioners, and filled the disciples with joy.

      Give us joy in your service.

By your resurrection you proclaimed good news to the women and apostles, and brought salvation to the whole world. Direct our lives as your new creation. (After a brief silence, the leader will conclude the prayer.)

*Assurance of Pardon:

Hear the good news!  Who is in a position to condemn?  Only Christ, and Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays for us.  Know that you are forgiven and be at peace.

                  In Jesus Christ we are forgiven!  Amen!

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord;

who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell.

The third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven,

and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

 from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Psalm                                                       Psalm 2 Refrain

1 Why are the nations in an uproar? Why do the peoples mutter empty threats?

          2 Why do the kings of the earth rise up in revolt,         and the rulers plot together, against the Lord and    against the Lord's anointed?
3 "Let us break their yoke," they say; "let us cast off their bonds from us.                           Refrain

          4 The One enthroned in heaven is laughing; the Lord has them in derision.
5 Then in wrath the Lord speaks to them, and divine rage fills them with terror
            6 "I myself have set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.                 Refrain

7 Let me announce the decree of the Lord: the Lord said to me, "You are my Son; this day have I begotten you.
            8 Ask of me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance and the ends of the earth for your possession.
9 You shall crush them with an iron rod and shatter them like a piece of pottery.                Refrain

          10 And now, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Submit to the Lord with fear, and with trembling bow down in worship;
12 lest the Lord be angry and you perish; for divine wrath is quickly kindled.

[Unison] 13 Happy are they all who take refuge in the Lord!                             Refrain

The Invitation to the Table

The Prayer of Preparation

The Lord be with you.    And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.        We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

                                  It is right to give our thanks and praise.

It is truly right and our greatest joy to give you thanks and praise, eternal God our Creator. You brought light out of darkness and set the sun to brighten the day and the moon and stars to illumine the night. Your glory blinds the eyes of our sin, while your radiance warms our needy hearts. You lead us by the light of your truth into the way of righteousness and peace. Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with the heavenly choirs and with all the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name:

      Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven   and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

You are holy, O God of majesty, and blessed is Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord. On a lonely mountain his human body was transfigured by your divine splendor. In his face, we have glimpsed your glory. In  his life, we see your love. For your image is untarnished in him, and the burden of human sorrow and suffering could not diminish his reflection of your holiness. The world was dark at his death, but the light of his life could not be extinguished. From the grave he rose like the sun, with blinding power and radiant peace. Remembering your gracious acts in Jesus Christ, we take from your creation this bread and this wine and joyfully celebrate his dying and rising, as we await the day of his coming. With thanksgiving we offer our very selves to you to be a living and holy sacrifice, dedicated to your service.

      Dying you destroyed our death, rising you restored our life. Lord Jesus, come in glory.

Gracious God, pour out your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these your gifts of bread and wine, that the bread we break and the cup we bless may be the communion of the body and blood of Christ. By your Spirit make us one with Christ, that we may be one with all who share this feast, united in ministry in every place. As this bread is Christ's body for us, send us out to be the body of Christ in the world. Illumine our lives, O God, with the radiance of Christ's love, and inspire us to shine in faith and witness as his holy disciples. Transform us into his likeness that we may live for you, as he lived, and love others, as he loved them. Give us strength to serve you faithfully until the promised day of resurrection, when with the redeemed of all the ages we will feast with you at your table in glory.

Through Christ, with Christ, in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor are yours, almighty God, now and forever.  Amen.

Scriptures used Today

Exodus 24:12-18

The Lord said to Moses, "Come up to me on the mountain, and wait there; and I will give you the tablets of stone, with the law and the commandment, which I have written for their instruction." [13] So Moses set out with his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up into the mountain of God. [14] To the elders he had said, "Wait here for us, until we come to you again; for Aaron and Hur are with you; whoever has a dispute may go to them." [15] Then Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. [16] The glory of the Lord settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days; on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the cloud. [17] Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel. [18] Moses entered the cloud, and went up on the mountain. Moses was on the mountain for forty days and forty nights.

2 Peter 1:16-21

For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty. [17] For he received honor and glory from God the Father when that voice was conveyed to him by the Majestic Glory, saying, "This is my Son, my Beloved, with whom I am well pleased." [18] We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven, while we were with him on the holy mountain. [19] So we have the prophetic message more fully confirmed. You will do well to be attentive to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. [20] First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, [21] because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

Matthew 17:1-9

Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain, by themselves. [2] And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white. [3] Suddenly there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. [4] Then Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here; if you wish, I will make three dwellings here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." [5] While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud a voice said, "This is my Son, the Beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him!" [6] When the disciples heard this, they fell to the ground and were overcome by fear. [7] But Jesus came and touched them, saying, "Get up and do not be afraid." [8] And when they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus himself alone.  [9] As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus ordered them, "Tell no one about the vision until after the Son of Man has been raised from the dead."

WE ADORE AND CONFESS

Greeting:  The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.                          And also with you.

The Psalm                                              Psalm 27:1,4-9

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

[4] One thing I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.

[5] For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble;  he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will set me high on a rock.

[6] Now my head is lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord.

[7] Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud, be gracious to me and answer me!  [8] "Come," my heart says, "seek his face!"  Your face, Lord, do I seek.

[9] Do not hide your face from me. Do not turn your servant away in anger, you who have been my help. Do not cast me off, do not forsake me, O God of my salvation!

Prayer:     O God, guardian and guide of all your people, protect

and lead us through times of trouble, establishing our faith on the rock of Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life. Amen.

The Call to Confession                   Romans 5:8; Hebrews 4:16

The proof of God's amazing love is this: While we were sinners Christ died for us. Because we have faith in him, we dare to approach God with confidence. In faith and penitence, let us confess our sin before God and one another:

*Unison Prayer of Confession

God of light, we ask forgiveness for talking too much and doing too little.

We ask forgiveness for those times when we've caused conflict, divisiveness,

and needless pain to others.

We confess we get angry at people at home, at church, at our jobs.

Forgive us for blaming others

while firmly believing in our own opinion.

Grant us awareness of all those different than we are,

those whose customs and habits

make us defensive and uncomfortable.

Open our minds and hearts to be the loving children

you have created and called us to be. In the name of Christ, Amen.

*A Moment of Silent Prayer

Lord, have mercy.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

Maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord;

who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell.

The third day he rose again from the dead;

he ascended into heaven,

and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

 from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

Scriptures used Today

Isaiah 9:1-4

But there will be no gloom for those who were in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he will make glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations. [2]  The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness--on them light has shined. [3] You have multiplied the nation, you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as with joy at the harvest, as people exult when dividing plunder. [4] For the yoke of their burden, and the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor, you have broken as on the day of Midian.

1 Corinthians 1:10-18

Now I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in agreement and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same purpose. [11] For it has been reported to me by Chloe's people that there are quarrels among you, my brothers and sisters. [12] What I mean is that each of you says, "I belong to Paul," or "I belong to Apollos," or "I belong to Cephas," or "I belong to Christ."  [13] Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? [14] I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, [15] so that no one can say that you were baptized in my name. [16] (I did baptize also the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized anyone else.) [17] For Christ did not send me to baptize but to proclaim the gospel, and not with eloquent wisdom, so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its power. [18] For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Matthew 4:12-23

Now when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee. [13] He left Nazareth and made his home in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, [14] so that what had been spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: [15] "Land of Zebulun, land of Naphtali, on the road by the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles-- [16] the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned." [17] From that time Jesus began to proclaim, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near." [18] As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea--for they were fishermen. [19] And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fish for people." [20] Immediately they left their nets and followed him. [21] As he went from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called them. [22] Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed him.  [23] Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people.

WE ADORE AND CONFESS

Greeting: The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. And also with you.

ThePsalm Psalm 98

O sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things.

His right hand and his holy arm have gotten him victory.

[2] The Lord has made known his victory; he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations.

[3] He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.

[4] Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises.

[5] Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody.

[6] With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord.

[7] Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who live in it.

[8] Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills sing together for joy [9] at the presence of the Lord, for he is coming to judge the earth.

He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

Prayer: Eternal God, you redeemed humanity by sending your only Son in fulfillment of your promises of old. Let the truth and power of your salvation be known in all places of the earth, that all nations may give you praise, honor, and glory; through Jesus Christ your Son. Amen.

Call to Confession Hebrews 10:19

Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain (that is, through his flesh), and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water as we confess together:

Prayer of Confession:

O God of mercy & goodness, you have asked us to serve you in sincerity & in faithfulness.

We confess that we have often gone through the motions

without meaning what we have said & done.

You have asked us to serve you but so often we worship other gods.

You are a holy God & you forgive our sins.

Forgive us for neglecting you & obeying other gods.

Forgive us for not being ready when you call to us.

Wake us up, O God & forgive us in your mercy. Amen.

A Moment of Silent Prayer Lord, have mercy, Christ, have mercy,

Lord, have mercy .

Declaration of Pardon : The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. Our prayers are heard! We are forgiven.

The Psalm                                                                                                                        Psalm 119:137-104

You are righteous, O Lord, and your judgments are right.

[138] You have appointed your decrees in righteousness and in all faithfulness.

[139] My zeal consumes me because my foes forget your words.

[140] Your promise is well tried, and your servant loves it.

[141] I am small and despised, yet I do not forget your precepts.

[142] Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and your law is the truth.

[143] Trouble and anguish have come upon me, but your commandments are my delight.

[144] Your decrees are righteous forever; give [us] understanding that [we] may live.

Prayer of Confession:

Eternal God, in every age you have raised up men and women to live and die in faith.

We confess that we are often indifferent to your will.

You call us to proclaim your name, but we are silent.

You call us to do what is just, but we remain idle. You call us to live faithfully, but we are afraid.

In your mercy, forgive us. Give us courage to follow in your way,

that joined with those from ages past, who have served you with faith, hope, and love,

we may inherit the kingdom you promised in Jesus Christ.

In his name we pray, Amen.

We all believe in one true God, Who created earth and heaven,

The Father, who to us in love Hath the right of children given.

He both soul and body feedeth, All we need He doth provide us;

He through snares and perils leadeth,Watching that no harm betide us.

He careth for us day and night, All things are governed by His might.

We all believe in Jesus Christ, His own Son, our Lord, possessing

An equal Godhead, throne, and might, Source of every grace and blessing.

Born of Mary, virgin mother, By the power of the Spirit,

Made true man, our elder Brother, That the lost might life inherit;

Was crucified for sinful men And raised by God to life again.

We all confess the Holy Ghost, Who sweet grace and comfort giveth

And with the Father and the Son   In eternal glory liveth;

Who the Church, His own creation, Keeps in unity of spirit.

Here forgiveness and salvation Daily come through Jesus' merit.

All flesh shall rise, and we shall be In bliss with God eternally. Amen.

WE ADORE AND CONFESS

Greeting: The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all . And also with you.

The Psalm Lamentations 3:19-26 The thought of my affliction and my homelessness is wormwood and gall!

[20] My soul continually thinks of it and is bowed down within me.

[21] But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: [22] The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end;

[23] they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

[24] "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him."

[25] The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him.

[Unison][26] It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Prayer: God of courage and compassion, comfort the exiled and oppressed, strengthen the faith of your people, and bring us all to our true home, the kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

*Hymn #276 Great is Thy Faithfulness FAITHFULNESS

Call to Confession from 2 Timothy 2:13, 19

Even when we are faithless, God remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself. Let everyone who calls on the name of the Lord turn away from wickedness, confessing our sins together him:

Prayer of Confession:

Loving God, you have given us commandments to guide us in our living.

Yet we choose to be obedient to false gods, worshiping the whims of the moment.

Forgive us our power without compassion, strength without gentleness.

Forgive our human weaknesses and help us to admit them.

And help us live out your commandments of love and service.

In the name of Christ, our Savior. Amen.

A Moment of Silent Prayer

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy .

Declaration of Pardon from 1 Timothy 1:15a

Our prayers are heard—we are forgiven! Thanks be to God.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;

he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead;

he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church, the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

WE ADORE AND CONFESS

Greeting:  The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.                                   And also with you.

The Psalm                                                                                                                      Psalm 91:1-6

You who live in the shelter of the Most High,  who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, [2] will say to the Lord,

"My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust."

[3] For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence;

[4] he will cover you with his pinions,  and under his wings you will find refuge;  his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

[5] You will not fear the terror of the night, or the arrow that flies by day,

[6] or the pestilence that stalks in darkness,

[Unison] or the destruction that wastes at noonday.

Prayer: O God, to know you is to live, to serve you is to reign. Defend us from every enemy, that trusting in your protective care, we may have no fear; through the power of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Call to Confession                                                                                               from Psalm 91:14-15

“Those who love me, I will deliver; I will protect those who know my name. When they call to me, I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble, I will rescue them and honor them.” Let us confess together:

Prayer of Confession:

Protector and Provider of all, we have sought to increase treasure and bolster security,

more than we have cultivated justice, godliness, and love. We love money and influence,

with little regard for the evil such love breeds. In mercy, forgive our selfish greed.

Quicken our hearts by your Spirit, that we may care more for that which lasts,

than for treasures that quickly fade. Grant us courage to live in the way of the cross,

as faithful disciples of your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

A Moment of Silent Prayer

Lord, have mercy.                                   Christ, have mercy.                               Lord, have mercy.

The Psalm                                                                                                               Psalm 15

O Lord, who may abide in your tent?  Who may dwell on your holy hill?

            [2] Those who walk blamelessly, and do what

            is right, and speak the truth from their heart;

[3] who do not slander with their tongue, and do no evil to their friends, nor take up a reproach against their neighbors;

            [4] in whose eyes the wicked are despised,

            but who honor those who fear the Lord;

who stand by their oath even to their hurt; [5] who do not lend money at interest, and do not take a bribe against the innocent.

[Unison]  Those who do these things shall never be moved.

Prayer: God of love, you adopted us as your children. Grant that we may pass through this world with such integrity that no one will have just complaint against us. At the end, may we inherit what has been prepared for us in heaven; through our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

*Hymn #138                              Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty                            NICAEA

Call to Confession:      The proof of God’s amazing love is this: While we were sinners Christ died for us. Because we have faith in him, we dare to approach God with confidence. In faith and penitence, let us confess our sin before God and one another:          (Romans 5:8; Hebrews 4:16)

Prayer of Confession:

Dear God, we offer ourselves to you, aware that our sins are many.

Sometimes we go too fast. Sometimes we sit too still.

We wrorry about the wrong things and neglect what is important.

We struggle to find the right balance.Forgive us. Restore us.

Help us to find the right measures of worship and service,

of self-care and self-giving, of faith and hope and love,

as we seek to follow the example of Jesus. Amen.

Moment for Silent Prayer

Lord, have mercy.

       Christ, have mercy.    Lord, have mercy.

Declaration of Pardon:                   (Ephesians  2:4, 5a, 6a, 8)

God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which God loved us, even when we were dead through our sin, made us alive together with Christ and raised us up with him. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. Amen.

*Affirmation of Faith:          from A Brief Statement of Faith

 In life and death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,

the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.

We trust in God, whom Jesus called Abba, Father.

In sovereign love God created the world good

and makes everyone equally in God's image male and female,

of every race and people to live as one community.

But we rebel against God; we hide from our Creator.

We deserve God's condemnation,

yet God acts with justice and mercy to redeem creation.

Loving us still,  God makes us heirs with Christ of the covenant.

Like a mother who will not forsake her nursing child,

like a father who runs to welcome the prodigal home, God is faithful still.

Scriptures Used This Morning

Amos 8:1-12

This is what the Lord God showed me--a basket of summer fruit. [2] He said, "Amos, what do you see?" And I said, "A basket of summer fruit." Then the Lord said to me,  "The end has come upon  my people Israel;  I will never again pass them by.   [3] The songs of the temple shall become wailings in that day,"  says the Lord God; "the dead bodies shall be many, cast out in every place. Be silent!"  [4] Hear this, you that trample on the needy, and bring to ruin the poor of the land,  [5] saying, "When will the new moon be over  so that we may sell grain; and the sabbath, so that we may offer wheat for sale?  We will make the ephah small and the shekel great, and practice deceit with false balances, [6] buying the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals, and selling the sweepings of the wheat." [7] The Lord has sworn by the pride of Jacob: Surely I will never forget any of their deeds.   [8] Shall not the land tremble on this account,  and everyone mourn who lives in it,  and all of it rise like the Nile, and be tossed about and sink again, like the Nile of Egypt? [9] On that day, says the Lord God,

I will make the sun go down at noon, and darken the earth in broad daylight.   [10] I will turn your feasts into mourning,  and all your songs into lamentation;  I will bring sackcloth on all loins,  and baldness on every head; I will make it like the mourning for an only son,  and the end of it like a bitter day.  [11] The time is surely coming, says the Lord God,  when I will send a famine on the land;  not a famine of bread, or a thirst for water,  but of hearing the words of the Lord.   [12] They shall wander from sea to sea,  and from north to east; they shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord,  but they shall not find it.

Colossians 1:15-28

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; [16] for in him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers--all things have been created through him and for him. [17] He himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together. [18] He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might come to have first place in everything. [19] For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, [20] and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross.   [21] And you who were once estranged and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, [22] he has now reconciled in his fleshly body through death, so as to present you holy and blameless and irreproachable before him-- [23] provided that you continue securely established and steadfast in the faith, without shifting from the hope promised by the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven. I, Paul, became a servant of this gospel.  [24] I am now rejoicing in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am completing what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church. [25] I became its servant according to God's commission that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, [26] the mystery that has been hidden throughout the ages and generations but has now been revealed to his saints. [27] To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. [28] It is he whom we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone in all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ.

Luke 10:38-42

Now as they went on their way, he entered a certain village, where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. [39] She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to what he was saying. [40] But Martha was distracted by her many tasks; so she came to him and asked, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her then to help me." [41] But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; [42] there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her."

A nursery is provided on the ground floor of our educational facility for infants & preschoolers.

Your gifts to make the new windows, doors, and sidewalk a reality prior to our anniversary celebration in October are greatly appreciated. Please write the appropriate designation on the memo line of checks to ensure funds going to the correct project.

The church is now on Facebook… add photos, videos, links and comments!

From Church History:

Writer Strickland Gillilan was quoted in the April 28, 1940  bulletin: “Let the Sunday School cease long enough and it would take us a century to grow civilized enough to live together. Modern folks must not – cannot – go on living on the accumulated principle of our forebears. It is all right to use off the woodpile, but if we do not do our share of replenishing, our progeny will freeze.
